About the Project

The overall objective of the international PAPIRUS project is to promote, implement and validate innovative solutions enabling the European community to achieve sustainable construction. The project implies an introduction of a new public procurement process focused on providing materials characterized by near zero energy consumption for the repair and construction of buildings in four European locations.

The project involves representatives of the public sector, which accounts for a significant proportion of the total number of existing buildings in Europe. The public sector has become an important factor in stimulating and serving as a model for the transformation of the market towards more efficient products, buildings and services.

One of the tasks of the PAPIRUS project is the training activities in the area of Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI). The main objective of these activities is awareness raising about the benefits of Public Procurement of Innovation and training of procurement and contracting staff across Europe on proper implementation of PPI.

The training takes the form of face to face workshops to be held in Spain (Bilbao), Norway (Oslo), Germany (Enzkreis) and Italy (Turin). During the workshops the participating public procurers will have a chance to learn from live cases - the public procurements of innovative solutions implemented within PAPIRUS project.

By participating in the training workshops public procurers will find out how and why to procure innovation,  what are the main challenges and barriers that may be encountered in the process as well as best practices from the PAPIRUSS project.

The training workshops has been already held in Bilbao. More infromation is available on: http://papirus-project.com/index.php/home/10-english/157-new-models-of-public-procurement-public-green-procurement-and-public-procurement-of-innovation
