Overview of case study
Oslo case study consists of a new construction demo. Existing building in the site will be demolished and replaced by a new building whose construction will be the object of one of the public procurements to develop in the frame of Papirus project.
Demo is located in Lindeberg, a suburb in the east side of the City of Oslo, Norway. The site is a residential area where there are a mixture of apartments and houses. The suburb is served by the metro and the area is close to the forest area surrounding Oslo.
The aim of the new construction will be to host residential dwellings for elderly with 24 hour medical staff attention and common activities. Most of the inhabitants will be patients in need of caretaking.
The nursing home is designed for accommodation over 144 residents and approximately 250 staff including sanitary staff as well as maintenance, services and administrative personnel. The occupation of the residential sector is expected to be 24 hours per day over the whole year therefore the operation of the building will be continuous.
Projected new construction presents an irregular plant with star shape, where 4 winds can be distinguished, occupying a gross area of approximately 14.900 m2. The building is composed of basement and ground floor plus five levels.
